Barre

"If you can't tuck, you can't f**k."
- Lotte Berk

Did you know Barre has a spicy history? The fabulous Lotte Berk, a German ballet dancer, revolutionized the fitness world with her unique barre technique in the 1950’s. By fusing ballet-inspired movements with rehabilitative exercises, Lotte created a workout that not only sculpted our bodies but also empowered our spirits. Lotte did not shy away from shamelessly embracing her sexuality and encouraging others to embrace theirs too! Berk's technique became a symbol of liberation during the sexual revolution of the 1960s, where barre workouts took on a whole new level of excitement. 💦

Fast forward to today at TenPoint5 Central Studio, barre fitness is no longer just about achieving long, lean muscles (although that's definitely a perk!). It's about fostering a strong and supportive community that uplifts you both physically and mentally. Our mind-body barre classes offer a low-impact, high-intensity workout that leaves you feeling empowered.

Low Impact Total Body Workout

By blending ballet, Pilates, and yoga, barre provides a total body workout targeting muscles like the quads, hips, glutes, abs, and arms. It combines light cardio, strength training, flexibility, balance, and core conditioning to improve balance, build strength, enhance flexibility, and burn calories.

Barre is low impact and suitable for individuals with joint issues. It emphasizes proper alignment, posture, and core engagement, leading to improved stability, body awareness, and a stronger core.

Mind Body Connection

Our instructors do not teach disassociation or encourage individuals to escape to a "happy place." Instead, they promote the idea of staying present in the body and being fully aware of deep sensations during the workout.

By focusing the mind on the body and being mindful of deep sensations, barre cultivates a deepened consciousness and connection to one's own physical being. This approach allows individuals to tap into their energy and direct it where the mind goes, resulting in a heightened mind-body connection.

”Best barre studio in the valley by far!! If you go regularly, you will see results. So many great instructors.”
